The 60-Second Coaching Simulator

You know the framework. Now run the conversation.

Reading about coaching is one thing. Saying the words out loud is another. This simulator puts a team member in front of you with a problem, so the first time you use the framework isn't the time it counts.

Your team member walks in with a problem they want you to solve. You have 60 seconds. Coach them through it instead.

The simulator may ask for microphone access, that's how you practice the conversation out loud.

Before you press start

1

Resist the fix

You'll know the answer. That's the trap. Every time you hand it over, you're training them to come back tomorrow.

2

Ask, don't tell

Use the questions from the course. Your job in these 60 seconds is to pull the answer out of them, not push yours in.

3

Expect the push-back

"What should I do?" is coming. You know what to say when it does. This is your chance to practice saying it.

Run it as many times as you want. Then go have the real one.

The next problem that lands on your desk is your rep. You've practiced, you have the language, and your team member leaves more capable than they walked in.
